Dr. Adam Church Bio
Dr. Adam R. Church was born in Winsted, CT and raised in Storrs and Coventry, CT. Dr. Church was introduced to Chiropractic at the age of 18 after a severe auto accident. The accident left him with a shattered sternum, two fractured vertebrae and three herniated discs in his low back. After consulting two orthopedic surgeons and a neurosurgeon (all suggesting that he would not be able to recover with out surgery) he went to a Chiropractor. Beginning at a young age, Dr. Church also suffered from severe headaches that seemed to get worse from the accident. Receiving enormous benefit, chiropractic corrected the cause of his problems, restoring his health completely.
Because of this life changing event, Dr. Church began studying at Southern Connecticut State University. After finishing his pre-med courses, he left New Haven, CT to pursue his education at the famous Life University of Chiropractic in Atlanta, Georgia. Graduating in 1999, he began working for a thriving family Chiropractor Dr. Jim Hovey, who is also the team Chiropractor for the Atlanta Falcons.
In 2002, Dr. Church and his wife decided to return home to Connecticut to open Atlas Chiropractic in East Haven. Specializing in family chiropractic care for all ages. In the community, he has helped to raise thousands of dollars for local charities including the Special Olympics, United Way, The Farnam House and the East Haven Lions Club. Dr. Church currently works with other doctors of all disciplines to analyze difficult cases. He receives referrals from all over the northeast to examine patients. Some of his patients have traveled 2 hours to be evaluated. Currently, Dr. Church is the official team Chiropractor for the Championship New Haven Rugby Club. This past year, Dr. Church was the organizer of the very successful Kids Day America. This day emphasizes the importance of safety and health to the children in the community.
Dr. Church continues to study in multiple post graduate courses in neurology, orthopedics, nutrition, sports injuries, pediatrics, radiology, diagnosis, Chiropractic techniques, such as pediatrics, geriatrics, pregnancy, and extremity
adjusting, and auto and work injuries. He also works closely with attorneys and insurance adjusters who deal with auto related and workers compensation injuries.
Besides his passion for Chiropractic, Dr. Church and his wife Liz enjoy varied, fulfilling and rather adventurous lives with a strong emphasis on physical activity and travel. He enjoys sports with participation in mountain biking, kayaking, tennis, running, weight lifting, hiking and boating.
Dr. Zapatka is a Palmer College graduate with 25 years of experience as a chiropractor. He completed his undergraduate studies at Perdue University. He is also certified in acupuncture and spinal decompression. He has been the part time team chiropractor for the women’s professional basketball team, The Connecticut Sun and the professional lacrosse team, The New England Black Wolves. His philosophy is that “health is affected by everything in an individual’s environment. He looks to address the cause of structural imbalance and disease without traditional pharmaceuticals, prescription drugs or other chemicals. He firmly believes chiropractic care, coupled with a healthy lifestyle and decreased environmental stresses, can result in remarkable, positive changes to the human body
